This situation must attract our great attention. " "Marxism in China has made great achievements, but it is far from over. An important task of philosophy and social sciences in China is to continue to promote the China, modernization and popularization of Marxism, and to continue to develop Marxism in the 21st century and Marxism in contemporary China. " In his speech celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), General Secretary of the Supreme Leader further pointed out: "We should examine the realistic foundation and practical needs of Marxism in contemporary development from a broader perspective, adhere to the problem orientation, adhere to what we are doing as the center, listen to the voice of the times, further promote the integration of Marxism with the concrete reality of contemporary China development, and constantly open up a new realm of Marxism development in the 21st century, so that contemporary China Marxism can radiate more brilliant truth." It can be said that this statement by the Supreme Leader General Secretary is a major position declaration based on China’s historical experience and social development reality, and it is a reaffirmation of the development direction of China’s contemporary society.
Why is there a phenomenon that Marxism is "aphasia" in disciplines, "disappearance" in textbooks and "loss of voice" in forums?
To open up a new realm of Marxist development in the 21st century, we must first solve the phenomenon that Marxism is "aphasia" in some disciplines, "missing" in textbooks and "losing its voice" in forums, as pointed out by the Supreme Leader General Secretary. The reasons for this phenomenon are very complicated, both historical reasons and practical problems, both external influences and some of our own mistakes. For example, in the past, some "left" practices generalized Marxism and even replaced specific disciplines with Marxism, which caused the vulgarization of Marxism and caused many people to deliberately stay away from Marxism. In addition, since the reform and opening up, we have learned from the experience of science, technology and management in developed countries, and many western theories have flooded into the country. Its various forms are fresh to China scholars. Not only have the waves of "fever" crowded out the influence space of Marxism, but the mentality of learners has also affected our cultural self-confidence. We always think that western theories are superior to our own. The books and textbooks that young people read are mostly western. When they grow up, the discourse system has taken shape, so there are few Marxist words in research and speech. Moreover, many emerging disciplines in universities often appear in western countries at first, so when building our disciplines, many of them start with reference, and some teaching materials are directly from abroad, and the transformation from the perspective of Marxism is still relatively backward.
From this point of view,The fundamental reason for the aphasia, disappearance and loss of voice of Marxism is the lack of self-confidence, and in the final analysis, there is a problem with cultural self-confidence.For a nation, true self-confidence is cultural self-confidence. Our brains can’t always contain other people’s souls. We should have our own independent souls. If we have an independent soul, there will be no aphasia, disappearance or voice loss. We must not let Marxism be marginalized, vague and labeled, let alone "aphasia" in disciplines, "disappearance" in textbooks and "loss of voice" in forums. To this end, we should focus on Marxism, especially Socialism with Chinese characteristics’s theoretical system, that is, Marxism in contemporary China, take major practical problems as the main direction, extract the latest theoretical achievements of Marxism in China, and run through the discipline construction, academic research and textbook compilation of philosophy and social sciences.
How to fundamentally solve the problems of "aphasia", "disappearance" and "voice loss"
Fundamentally speaking, to solve the problems of "the aphasia of Marxism in disciplines, the disappearance of Marxism in textbooks and the loss of voice in forums", it is necessary to further promote the China, modernization and popularization of Marxism. In Socialism with Chinese characteristics’s practical practice and theoretical context, this is not only a question of changing the theoretical expression, but also a question of the purpose, position and method of academic research.
Here, we will promote the China, modernization and popularization of Marxism."First of all, we must solve the problem of knowing and believing".If we don’t really understand and believe, it is impossible to truly promote the China, modernization and popularization of Marxism, and even if we do it, it will be out of shape and impossible to do it well. I won’t talk much about this problem here. As long as we realize that it is by developing and adhering to Socialism with Chinese characteristics’s theoretical system that we have achieved remarkable achievements in reform, opening up and career development, we can unswervingly believe in, adhere to and develop this theoretical system.
Promote China, modernization and popularization of Marxism."The core is to solve the problem of why people".That is to say, we should solve the problem of the purpose of our academic research, that is, "the core should solve the problem of why people" as General Secretary of the Supreme Leader said. Is our Marxist academic research and theoretical exploration for the people to enrich the spiritual world, improve the level of understanding and understanding the world, and improve the ability to transform the world, or for a few people to enjoy themselves and indulge in words and intellectual games? The practical character and class nature of Marxism prove that Marxism is not a word game in the study, nor a storm in the head wearing a nightcap, but a theoretical summary and generalization of the times from the social practice of the people. We can’t just cram some concepts, propositions and theories into the minds of the public with some easy-to-understand new words, or turn some theoretical concepts into Chinese, and everything will be fine. We must also solve the problem of who the theory is for. Only in serving the cause of Socialism with Chinese characteristics and the practice of serving the people of China in exploring the road of Socialism with Chinese characteristics can we truly promote the China, modernization and popularization of Marxism.
If we solve the problem of for whom, we will also solve the real social foundation problem of China, modernization and popularization of Marxism, that is, does our academic research come from the practical activities of the people, or just from the minds of books and scholars themselves? The living water source of theoretical innovation lies in the social practice of the masses. The China, modernization and popularization of Marxism is not only a matter of expression, but also a generative problem of the theory itself. If Marxism is the pursuit of regular knowledge about social and historical development, that is, truth, then our academic research should be based on the social practice of the people. If the problem is the voice of the times, and the voice of the masses is the most important issue of the times, then we must look for research questions from the needs and voices of the masses and answer the questions of the times. It can be seen that "adhering to the people-centered research orientation" not only solves the problem of where the theory comes from, but also answers the question of who the theoretical research depends on. "Without the people, philosophy and social sciences will not be attractive, infectious, influential and vital." We must "adhere to the view that the people are the creators of history, establish the ideal of learning for the people, respect the people’s dominant position, focus on people’s practical creation, consciously link personal academic pursuit with the development of the country and the nation, and strive to produce more research results that can stand the test of practice, people and history."
Finally, promote the China, modernization and popularization of Marxism."how to use it?""whoever is expensive, you can use it." As scholars, how do we view the function of academic research? That is, is our academic activity just a self-circulation in the circle of scholars, or should we play its role in understanding and transforming the world in the fiery world of life? Marx said that all previous philosophies were to explain the world, but the problem was to transform the world. Marxist academic research is not an antique in the hands of scholars, but a powerful ideological weapon for the people to understand and transform the world. Only by devoting ourselves to the social practice of the people and relying on them can we study the academic achievements that the people can empathize with and be useful to the people.
Academic research must be involved in the life world in order to truly gain theoretical significance.
To consolidate the guiding position of Marxism and promote the China, modernization and popularization of Marxism, we must base ourselves on the practice of social development in China, which is the most fundamental methodology. Since the China, modernization and popularization of Marxism are for the people, originated from their social practice, and focused on improving their understanding level and practical ability, we must devote ourselves to the real life of the people when conducting academic research and theoretical exploration, and creatively promote Marxism in contemporary China in the hot tide of the times. Academic research needs our brains and intelligence, but academic problems are not in our minds, but in objective reality. Academic research must have a sense of problems. The problem exists in the trend of social development, in the practice of reform and opening up and strictly administering the party, in the actual process of international communication, in people’s practice, in people’s lives, in factories, fields, markets, laboratories and people’s running roads. We must go deep into social practice, care about the laws and trends of the changing situation, pay attention to the major issues of reform, opening up and social development, care about the protection and improvement of people’s livelihood, adhere to the problem orientation, answer deep-seated contradictions, and find ways to solve problems, so as to play the role of philosophy and social science. Academic research must be involved in the life world in order to truly gain theoretical significance.
To consolidate the guiding position of Marxism and promote the China, modernization and popularization of Marxism, we must advocate the theoretical innovation and discourse innovation of China Marxism. Promoting Marxist innovation must conform to the characteristics of Marxism itself, that is, the purpose of serving the people and its social practicality. Theoretical research is to make this ideological weapon more and more consistent with the requirements of social practice, make this ideological weapon more and more effective, sharper and more comfortable, and let more and more people master this ideological weapon. Therefore, philosophy and social science workers should devote themselves to people’s life and practice, and draw wisdom and nutrition from people’s practical experience, so that academic research can be grounded, energetic and useful to people.
Consolidating the guiding position of Marxism and promoting the China, modernization and popularization of Marxism also require us to learn to express academic issues in the language of the people. Only in this way can the people be interested in and understand theoretical research, so that more and more people can understand the theoretical essence and value pursuit of Marxism. We should work hard on the discourse system and expression. As the essence of the spirit of the times, Marxism should express the iron logic about the social development process in poetic language. Although promoting the China, modernization and popularization of Marxism is not only a matter of language and words, it is absolutely impossible without a language that meets the needs of the people. As soon as the "Chinese Dream" was put forward, it won the empathy of hundreds of millions of people and fully demonstrated the power of language expression. The problem is the voice of the times. And the language that meets the requirements of the times can make this sound better.
