Tesla FSD system is cold: only 3,500 of the 1.8 million car owners choose to upgrade.
Fast Technology reported on May 14th that Gary Black, a well-known Tesla investor and future fund management partner, released the data released by YipitDate, a credit card data provider.
The data shows that,Although Tesla American car owners experienced the FSD service for free during the trial period, only 2% car owners chose to continue to subscribe after the trial period ended, far below Blake’s expectation of 6%.
Blake also reminded that because the sample size is only 3,500, it may not fully reflect the wishes of Tesla owners. It is suggested that Tesla deeply analyze the reasons for the low acceptance rate, whether it is related to the added value of services or the pricing of 99 US dollars/month.
It is understood that Tesla’s self-driving products are divided into three levels:Basic AP(Autopilot), enhanced assisted driving EAP(Enhanced Autopilot), and the highest level FSD.
At present, AP is provided free of charge in China, and EAP costs RMB 32,000.The price of FSD in North America is $15,000 or $199 per month, and its functions include navigation-assisted driving, automatic lane change and automatic parking.
Since the FSD v12 version, Tesla has introduced the "end-to-end neural network", which controls cars by neural networks instead of traditional programming codes, and is praised by Musk as an innovation of "changing the rules of the game".
He predicted that,FSD will be updated every two weeks, and 26 version iterations will be realized every year, bringing 78 major improvements, which indicates a significant improvement in the security and functionality of FSD.
